The American Concrete Institute has recently enhanced its two scholarly journals – the ACI Materials Journal and the ACI Structural Journal – with expanded content and greater digital accessibility. All ACI members receive electronic subscriptions to both journals as part of their membership, plus access to the complete digital archive of over 8,500 papers published in the Institute’s journals. Annual subscriptions are also available. “The ACI Materials Journal and ACI Structural Journal have been publishing research on properties of concrete materials and design of structural concrete from many of the brightest minds in the concrete industry,” said Jerzy Z. Zemajtis, Ph.D., P.E., Managing Editor, American Concrete Institute. “Since the American Concrete Institute began publishing journals back in December 1912, our goal has always been to ensure that those who design and build with concrete have access to the most current and cutting-edge research and information on concrete. In many cases, research published in ACI’s journals directly impacts the reports, codes, and standards published by the Institute and other standards developing organizations.” ACI’s journals now include an online publication of reviewers, digital object identifier numbers (DOIs) per article for increased impact factor, new publishing partnerships, EndNote export citation functionality, and brand new ScholarOne links to American Journal Editors for ease in translating papers into English. And, while the comprehensive research is available directly through the journals, highlights are regularly available through other popular publishing venues. For example, an article on “Building with Recycled Concrete” was published in Informed Infrastructure based on research that initially appeared in the ACI Materials Journal; and an article on “Concrete Cracks Heal Themselves” was published in Physics News based on research that initially appeared in the ACI Materials Journal.
