Falconer Fellowship Surpasses Funding Goal

The American Concrete Institute announces that the ACI Foundation has exceeded its original fundraising goal for its Daniel W. Falconer Memorial Fellowship. The Falconer Fellowship will be offered through the ACI Foundation, a non-profit subsidiary of ACI and will be first awarded during the 2017-2018 school year. The fellowship was created in memory of the late Dan Falconer who served as ACI’s Managing Director of Engineering for over 17 years. Dan was known throughout the organization as a hardworking and pragmatic problem solver; passionate about his work and driven to push concrete standards forward. 

The fellowship exceeded its original funding goal of $75,000 – allowing for ACI Foundation to increase the yearly academic stipend from $7,000 to $15,000 annually.

“The tremendous generosity of many individuals, organizations, and the American Concrete Institute have contributed the funds necessary for this fellowship to provide a much deeper impact on the studies and research of an exceptional graduate student,” stated Ann M. Daugherty, Director, ACI Foundation. 

The ACI Foundation will be awarding the fellowship to a graduate student studying structural engineering with an emphasis on reinforced concrete design. The ACI Foundation was established to promote progress, innovation, and collaboration through research and fellowships like the Daniel W. Falconer Memorial Fellowship.
