ACI President Michael Schneider (right) presents ACI Ontario Chapter President Paul Imm (left) with a special anniversary plaque. The ACI Ontario Chapter celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Art Gallery of Ontario in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on the evening of Friday, June 10, 2016, and ACI President Michael Schneider was on hand to present a special memorial plaque. Since 1966, the Ontario Chapter has been meeting the concrete information needs of concrete practitioners in the region. In an official letter to the Ontario Chapter, Ron Burg, ACI Executive Vice President, praised the officers and members for their commitment and dedication to advancing the concrete industry. “The Ontario Chapter’s 50-year history is rich with activities that benefited both its members and the concrete industry at large including an active certification and education program, student scholarship programs, technical presentations, and social and networking opportunities for members. In addition, the Ontario chapter and its members have served as host and local volunteers for an ACI convention six times during its 50-year history. Every convention held in Ontario has been a resounding success due to the dedication and enthusiasm of the Chapter members.” Ron Burg, ACI Executive Vice President The three hour anniversary event welcomed both long time and new members, along with working professionals and students from a variety of concrete related backgrounds. Attendees enjoyed entertainment by students from the University of Toronto’s music program, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and an open tour of the art gallery. Ontario Chapter President Paul Imm gave a brief introduction about the history of Ontario followed by a special presentation and gift to Alain Belanger, Chapter Secretary/Treasurer, who has served both the local chapter and on a number of ACI committees.
