Prof. Shih- Jian Hwang, ACI Taiwan Chapter, presented the licensed Simplified Chinese translation of ACI 318-14: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary, at the ACI International Forum on Sunday, October 26, at The Concrete Convention and Exposition, Philadelphia, PA, USA. The translation was developed through a joint effort of the ACI Taiwan Chapter, the Taiwan Concrete Institute, and the Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering. A team of more than 30 reviewers converted their licensed Traditional Chinese translation, for use in Taiwan and Hong Kong, into Simplified Chinese characters for use in Mainland China. After the publication of the Traditional Chinese version in Spring of 2016, an additional 17 meetings were completed to finalize the Simplified version. The translation is available from Taiwan through the ACI Taiwan Chapter, TCI and CICHE, and they are currently seeking a printing house to distribute the translation in China. This international cooperation supports ACI’s strategic plan to positively impact the global concrete community through mutually beneficial alliances, and provide leadership to ensure our customers are equipped to sustainably address the needs of a changing world. The Simplified Chinese version of ACI 318-14: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary is available at www.concrete.org
