On December 7, 2016 a one-day seminar on the reorganized ACI 318-14 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete, will be held in Doha, Qatar, sponsored by Advanced Construction Technology Services, Institution of Civil Engineers, and ACI Qatar Chapter. A similar seminar also took place in March, 2016, in Dubai, UAE, and proved to be a great success with attendees. Two ACI staff engineers will guide attendees through the new organization of the code, concentrating on provisions for cast-in-place, nonprestressed concrete member design. The philosophy behind the new organizational structure will be demonstrated through a thorough review of the Code’s outline and provisions in the major chapters to give attendees new insight into the background behind the new organizational structure and how the new organization makes it easier to find needed requirements. In addition, reorganization has collected all construction-related requirements into a single chapter. The responsibility of the licensed design professional to include this information in contract documents, as it relates to a particular project, will be explained. By attending the seminar, attendees can earn 0.75 CEUs (7.5 PDHs). The price of the seminar is 4000 QAR includes—an electronic copy of the Metric version of ACI 318-14 code; printed copy of the presentation; an electronic copy of ACI SP-17, “Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook, Volumes 1 & 2;” certificates of attendance; coffee breaks; and lunch.
