World of Concrete 2017 attendees were enthusiastic about the selection of ACI resources available at the show recently. One of these resources was the new CCS-0S (16) Concrete Fundamentals - Spanish Language Version. Concrete Fundamentals is intended for anyone who wants an introduction to concrete and concrete construction. The book starts with the most basic question of all, “What is concrete?” with later chapters covering materials, construction practices, testing, and more. In full color, with updated content and dual units, Fundamentos del concreto is intended for anyone who wants an introduction to concrete and concrete construction. An invaluable resource, Fundamentos del concreto, is a valuable starting point for concrete industry personnel – apprentices, journeymen, foremen, material suppliers, finishers, or even young engineers without field experience. Additionally, the book can be used as a useful resource for inclusion in training and development programs. An English Language version of Concrete Fundamentals is also available as part of its Concrete Craftsman Series, which includes Placing and Finishing Decorative Concrete Flatwork. This full-color book provides details about the materials, equipment, and techniques required to successfully install decorative concrete flatwork. Published to raise the quality of education for the decorative concrete industry, this book supplements existing resources by providing knowledge of the materials, equipment, and techniques required to successfully install decorative concrete flatwork. The Concrete Craftsman Series books provide guidance and best practices to concrete contractors and provide concrete industry professionals with indispensable information. ACI also announced that their two masonry testing certification programs are now cited in TMS 402/602-16: Building Code Requirements and Specifications for Masonry Structures. Published in December 2016, the newly updated Masonry documents include language referencing certification in accordance with the Masonry Field Testing Technician and Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician programs. ACI’s Manager, Certification Program Development, Michael J. Morrison, was interviewed by ForConstructionPros.com about ACI’s masonry testing certification programs. ForConstructionPros.com is a leading resource for the commercial construction industry including news, articles, equipment and product reviews for the concrete industry. ACI’s experts were on hand every day during World of Concrete 2017 answering technical questions, and guiding attendees to ACI’s many knowledge resources. . ACI also hosted its 2nd Annual Chapter Leader Networking Event during the week. This year’s Networking Event had over 60 leaders representing 15 chapters and societies in the industry. Leaders connected with chapters and societies from Arizona, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kansas, Las Vegas, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, National Capital, New Mexico, San Diego, Guatemala, and the Concrete Society of South Africa. All the participants enjoyed sharing best practices that have improved the functionality of their chapter.
