The American Concrete Institute (ACI) held a Twitter chat on Friday, March 3, 2017, to address users’ questions about structural concrete including global use of ACI 301-16 Specifications for Structural Concrete, webinars regarding the topic, and what concrete topics 301 covers. Michelle Wilson, Director, Concrete Technology, Portland Cement Association, and chair of ACI Technical Committee 301, Specifications for Structural Concrete, and Jim Cornell, General Superintendent, The Beck Group, and former ACI 301 chair, were on hand to answer structural concrete questions. Topics addressed included the metric version of ACI 301, available now, and the Spanish version, available soon, to be used for structural concrete projects around the world; thickness of reinforced concrete that is determined by the engineer based on design requirements; and options for qualifying concrete mixtures resistance to ASR.
