More than 100 people in Peru, and many more in several other Central and South American countries recently participated in a much anticipated Spanish language webinar on concrete repair—Spanish Webinar: ACI 562-16-The Concrete Repair Code. The webinar covered ACI 562-16, “Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures and Commentary.” ACI 562-16 replaces ACI 562-13 as a standard for the repair of existing concrete structures. Based on nearly one century of content from ACI, the code combines the Institute’s historical knowledge with state-of-the-art resources on the evaluation, repair, and rehabilitation of concrete buildings. The webinar described the philosophy of ACI 562-16, its content, and some of the key requirements regarding evaluation of existing structures, design of the repairs, durability, construction, and quality control. It also included a repair project example to illustrate the use of ACI 562-16. Focus was on the impact of ACI 562-16 in concrete repair projects, and increasing participants’ knowledge on repair of concrete structures. Webinar participants were enthusiastic and noted that they hoped to see more Spanish language webinars in the future. The webinar is now available as an on-demand course and participants can earn Continuing Education Credit of 0.15 CEU (1.5 PDH). ACI’s Spanish Language Resources The ACI 562 Webinar fulfills ACI’s strategic plan objectives to increase opportunities for professional growth, and add value for its members, chapter members, and customers.
