ACI attended the International Code Council (ICC) Annual Conference on September 10-13, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio, USA. ICC is a member-focused association dedicated to developing model codes and standards used in the design, build, and compliance process to construct safe, sustainable, and affordable structures. ACI exhibited at the Building Safety Design Expo which took place during the conference and provided sponsorship for the Ron Burton Golf Outing to increase training and resources critical for future leaders in the code official profession. “ACI being at this event provides value by demonstrating support for common interests and concerns,” stated Steve Szoke, Engineer, American Concrete Institute. “Participation allows ACI to communicate the availability of our many resources and code requirements for designing and repairing concrete structures.” ACI Exhibits at ICC’s Annual Conference ACI’s exhibit focused on general awareness of ACI as a technical society. Positive feedback from booth traffic suggested strong interest in ACI resources, including concrete education for code officials, participation in ICC, and opportunities for ACI chapters to more closely work with ICC chapters. There are 377 ICC chapters, including 11 chapters in 9 countries outside the USA. ACI Staff Steve Szoke (left) with ICC Executive Vice President Mark Johnson at the Ron Burton Golf Outing
