ACI recently traveled to Malaysia for discussions on the launch of ACI Certification Concrete Flatwork Finisher and Technician program in the area. The program is a collaborative effort between the Academy of Concrete Technology and the ACI Malaysia Chapter. ACI’s Director of International Business, Bernie Pekor, also met with members of the Institute of Engineers of Malaysia, to share knowledge and explore areas for possible future cooperation. As technology advances and concrete construction grows and changes, proper certification is vital to ensuring the safety and quality of concrete projects. ACI offers 23 certification programs designed to form a minimum qualification for personnel employed within the concrete construction industry. Certification examinations and optional training courses are conducted through an international network of over 100 sponsoring groups. Since 1980, ACI has administered exams to over 550,000 individuals, with over 100,000 certifications currently maintained by ACI. ACI recently launched three new certification programs: Adhesive Anchor Installation Inspector, Cement Physical Tester, and Concrete Quality Technical Manager. The programs are now being offered globally through the ACI sponsoring group network. ACI’s international activities are a major force in creating and maintaining a worldwide community of individuals and organizations supplying and accessing knowledge on concrete.
