I-15 Beck Street Overpass, Salt Lake City, UT 84116 Contractors’ Day at The Concrete Convention and Exposition is a combination of sessions and events planned specifically for subcontractors, general contractors, project managers, and concrete industry personnel. Attendees at Contractors’ Day in Salt Lake City had several sessions to choose from including a special session about the restoration of the pioneer-era Provo Tabernacle after a fire in 2010. “From the Ashes: The Engineering and Construction Challenges of the Provo City Center Temple,” sponsored by ACI Intermountain Chapter, discussed the history of the structure, the fire, cleanup efforts, shoring, ground water management, waterproofing wall strengthening and restoration, as well as the beauty that was created inside and outside. Other sessions included: Advances in Concrete Bridges: Design, Construction, Evaluation, and Rehabilitation; The Role of Cracking on Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete; New Innovations in Chemical Admixtures; Contractors' Day Session: Concrete Construction, and more. Find a Session Handout Engaging speaker Matt Townsend presented the Contractors’ Day Lunch – “Feeding the 7 Basic Needs of Healthy and Productive Relationships…The Art of Doing More with Less.” Townsend, a leadership consultant and relationship coach, provided universal stories to show how his principles apply to everyday life, no matter what the life situation.
