Michael Morrison, ACI Manager of Certification Program Development Infrastructure Imperative, the inaugural event focused on the commercial construction and public works industries, was held last week in Cleveland, OH, USA, to foster innovation in the design and construction of lasting infrastructure. The American Concrete Institute’s Michael Morrison, Manager of Certification Program Development, spoke about the importance of ACI Certification using the ACI Adhesive Anchor Program as an example to certify both installers and inspectors. The Adhesive Anchor Installer certification program includes a written exam as well as a practical exam in which the installer is required to demonstrate proficiency with the systems provided. “Working to anticipate the demands of the construction industry, the ACI Adhesive Anchor Installer certification committee recognized inspectors could be lacking in important knowledge related to the installation of adhesive anchors and formed a new inspector certification committee,” said Morrison. This committee, with industry backing, created the Adhesive Anchor Installation Inspector certification. The Adhesive Anchor Installation Inspector program certifies individuals who have demonstrated the knowledge to properly inspect the installation of adhesive anchors in concrete. The inspector must understand the responsibilities and qualifications of the adhesive anchor installer, the inspection requirements as cited in the project documents, and the process governing the qualification of anchor systems. More than 40 global sponsoring groups are currently offering the Adhesive Anchor Installation Inspector and the Adhesive Anchor Installer programs. The importance of long-lasting infrastructure aligns with the importance of ACI Certification. The concrete construction industry is demanding quality certification programs and acknowledging the importance of working with skilled individuals; ACI is helping the concrete industry meet those needs. Learn more about why ACI Certification is important.
