The ACI Foundation’s Strategic Development Council (SDC) is pleased to announce that Charles S. Hanskat is the organization’s new Chair, effective January 1, 2019. Hanskat is the Executive Director of the American Shotcrete Association, (ASA), and is a former Vice Chair of SDC. He received his BS and MS in civil engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville and is a licensed professional engineer in many states. Hanskat has been involved in the design, construction, and evaluation of environmental concrete and shotcrete structures for over 40 years. Hanskat’s service to the engineering profession is exemplified through his involvement with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), and the Florida Engineering Society (FES), and in more than 50 committee and officer positions at the national, state, and local levels. In 2011, he received the Outstanding Reviewer Award for the Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities. Hanskat serves on many ACI Committees, including Technical Activities Committee Construction Standards; 301 Specifications, 506 Shotcrete, and 350 Environmental Structures. He is also active on the following SDC committees: Technology Management; Board of Direction; Technology Transfer Advisory Group; Strategic Repair Research Council; and SDC Vision 2020 Initiative. # # # The ACI Foundation was established in 1989 to promote progress, innovation, and collaboration and is a wholly owned and operated non-profit subsidiary of the American Concrete Institute. Three councils make up the ACI Foundation; the Strategic Development Council, committed to resolving the issues of new technology acceptance within the concrete industry; the Concrete Research Council, which funds and assists in the research of new concrete technologies; and the Scholarship Council which facilitates student fellowships and scholarships.
