Speakers from ACI Chapters and concrete associations around the world gathered for the International Forum at The Concrete Convention and Exposition, held in Québec City, QC, Canada, March 24, 2019. Randall Poston, ACI Vice President, welcomed attendees. International partners, ACI Chapter representatives, and ACI leadership gathered to discuss concrete industry events, activities, and common themes of interest to the concrete materials, design, and construction industry. The popular forum provides a great opportunity to share information on activities and plans, and attendees have an opportunity to learn about other international organizations. ACI works with its International Partners to collaboratively develop and disseminate technical information on concrete and concrete structures. Presentations: Concrete Institute of Australia – David Millar Korea Concrete Institute – Prof. Jae-Yeol Cho Mexico Chapters – Jose Lozano Ruy Sanchez Institute of Concrete Technology – Robert Lewis Swedish Concrete Technology – Johan Silfwerbrand ACI India Chapter – Ms. Radhika Markan Japan Concrete Institute – Prof. Tomohiro Miki The forum was followed by a lunch presentation by Tor Ole Olsen. Olsen is a structural designer, honorary member of the Norwegian Concrete Association, and president of fib for 2019 and 2020. Olsen focuses predominantly on concrete marine structures. Olsen’s presentation highlighted examples of marine structures including offshore platforms for the oil and gas industry; strait crossings; renewable energy; recreational, and fish farming.
