The American Concrete Institute (ACI) recently sponsored the New York Build show in New York City, NY, USA as a gold-level sponsor. The annual show is a construction and design expo targeted towards projects and concrete industry professionals from across New York and the surrounding tri-state areas. The two-day show feature exhibitors, sessions, and talks. John Nehasil, ACI Managing Director of Certification, presented during the show as part of the ‘Future of Construction Summit.’ Nehasil’s presentation, “ACI and ACI Certification – The Concrete Industry Working for YOU” highlighted the importance of ACI certification. Topics presented included: ACI overview and certification History How certification programs are developed, maintained, and delivered What programs ACI currently offers and what new programs are being developed What certification programs are required in NYC ACI also exhibited during the show, promoting its certification programs. In New York, four ACI certification programs are mandatory in the New York City Building Code: Concrete Field Testing Technician, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, Concrete Construction Special Inspector, and the Adhesive Anchor Installer programs. A fifth ACI certification program, the Post-Installed Concrete Anchor Installation Inspector, is currently under consideration. At the ACI exhibit, attendees talked with ACI representatives about the details of these programs, and received information on local testing centers. Show attendees were able to browse through workbooks and certification material. ACI also promoted www.whyACIcertification.org – a resource for individuals, employers, and specifiers who are looking for more information on ACI certification benefits. Continued participation in New York Build helps ACI establish and expand strong and productive relationships with organizations and individuals.
