The new code cycle for the next edition of ACI 562, Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures, will kick off at the 2019 ACI Fall Convention in Cincinnati, OH, USA. Committee 562 Chair, Carl J. “Chuck” Larosche, has formed a steering committee that is charged with devising a working plan for the new code cycle from industry leaders in the repair industry. Chair Larosche is inviting all convention attendees to participate in the discussion, share your expertise, bring forward new ideas, and offer suggestions for practices that you would like to see introduced in the new code version. What topics should the committee concentrate and focus on in the new code cycle? Some of the ideas that have been proposed and that the committee would like to address include: Current organization; Sub-committee size and number; Evaluation and repair; Evaluation and repair of post-tensioning systems; Development of code provisions for the use of carbon/glass fiber methods for repair and strengthening; Fire provisions in repair; Strengthening durability and service life provisions; Developing material provisions and acceptance criteria for repair materials; and Developing and strengthening construction administration provisions The steering committee, which is divided into three sub-groups, will meet separately in breakout sessions in the Wolverine room at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati, as follows: Saturday, October 19, 2019 Noon-3:00 p.m. Meeting facilitated by Keith Kesner Saturday, October 19, 2019 3:00-6:00 p.m. Meeting facilitated by Tracy Marcotte Sunday, October 20, 2019 8:00-10:00 a.m. Meeting facilitated by Tarek Alkhrdaji Learn more at ACIConvention.org.
