Seven university teams were awarded a combined total of $32,000 to cover travel expenses related to the ACI Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites Competition on Sunday, October 20, 2019, during The Concrete Convention and Exposition in Cincinnati, OH, USA.

Travel stipends in an amount up to $5,000 were awarded to teams who applied to the program based on merit. Applicants were required to provide evidence of previous participation in a local or national concrete competition as well as anticipated fundraising and a realistic budget for the trip.

Upcoming competitions for the 2020 academic calendar year include:
March 29, 2020 Rosemont/Chicago, IL, USA ACI Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Bowling Ball Competition
October 25, 2020 Raleigh, NC, USA ACI Egg Protection Device Competition
Travel stipend applications for next fall will be available from April 1 – June 30, 2020.
In addition, students are invited to apply for a chance to win cash prizes for research papers in the James Instruments Student Award Competition sponsored by ACI Committee 228, Nondestructive Testing of Concrete, or by submitting a team project proposal in the Concrete Construction Competition sponsored by the Construction Liaison Committee (CLC).
ACI currently has more than 16,000 student members. Membership is free to both undergraduates and graduate students and includes benefits such as free digital access to ACI’s practices, journals, and magazine; discounts on textbooks and online resources; and a $10 registration fee to attend the convention.
