View this post on Instagram ACI is at the Precast Show 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas! #ACICertification A post shared by American Concrete Institute (@concreteaci) on Mar 6, 2020 at 11:28am PST The American Concrete Institute recently attended The Precast Show in Fort Worth, TX, to promote the ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I and Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technician certification programs. The show is sponsored by the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) and the Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). More than 4,000 precast concrete producers and equipment suppliers were in attendance, together with a number of individuals currently certified as an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician. Attendees showed interest in ACI’s Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technician certification program, as SCC is commonly used in precast construction. It is also regularly used for cast-in-place projects and specialized applications. “With self-consolidating concrete being such a viable option for precast construction, it’s important that proper testing to measure and monitor the characteristics of fresh SCC is performed,” said John W. Nehasil, Managing Director, Certification, American Concrete Institute. “Specifying ACI-certified Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technicians allows for confidence when precasting construction elements” An ACI Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technician is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge of and ability to properly perform five standard test methods and practices on self-consolidating concrete; while an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform and record the results of seven basic field tests on freshly mixed concrete. Both programs require written and performance examinations. For more information on ACI’s certification programs, please visit ACICertification.org.
