The ACI Quebec and Eastern Ontario chapter is proud to announce the winners of the first edition of their Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards. These awards are intended to highlight the quality, diversity, and excitement of concrete construction in the local chapter. The chapter would like to thank the 28 projects that submitted their applications. All these projects were judged by a panel of eight judges, each representing a branch of the concrete industry. From there, three nominees by category were selected and the winners were announced during a gala on March 10, 2020, at the Mortagne hotel in Boucherville. The gala was chaired by Mr. Michel Pigeon and was moderated by Ms. Caroline Côté. Over 130 people attended the gala to celebrate the concrete industry. List of Winners by Category: Improvement of the infrastructures of the National Assembly of Quebec (Low-rise building) Science Complex - Campus MIL (Mid-rise building) L’Avenue (High-rise building) Samuel-de Champlain Bridge (Infrastructure) SSENSE Montreal (decorative concrete) Berri-Sherbrooke underpass rehabilitation in Montreal (Repair and restoration) These projects will represent the local chapter at the ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards on October 26, 2020,in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mentions Awarded: Sustainability and resilience: tied, Parc Jean-Drapeau - Amphitheater and Calder alley and Samuel-de Champlain bridge Architectural merit: SSENSE Montreal Mention of structural merit: Samuel-de Champlain Bridge Congratulations to all the winning projects.
