The American Concrete Institute will be hosting this year’s Professors' Workshop virtually on July 27-29, 2020. This virtual event will consist of one four-hour time block for each of the three days. The workshop is designed to provide instructors in civil engineering, architecture, architectural engineering, materials science, and construction management programs the latest tools and teaching techniques to effectively engage students in courses that cover structural concrete design, construction, materials, and pavements While the primary focus of the workshop is to provide the resources for teaching, several interactive sessions will be held to explore the role of online teaching in concrete-related courses for undergraduates. During the Spring 2020 semester, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in an unexpected mid-semester shift from face-to-face to fully online delivery of most courses. Many universities will require that courses be taught either fully or partially online in the upcoming Fall 2020 semester. Several interactive workshop sessions are planned that will allow participants to explore ideas for improving the online delivery of their concrete courses. Prominent, nationally known faculty and industry representatives will also present information on proven teaching methods and instructional resources, as well as updates on the latest industry technical information and trends.
