The ACI Iraq Chapter launched a series of free webinars on June 11. The first webinar was given by one of the ACI distinguished speakers as a part of the Chapter Talks Program. Dr. Khaled Nahlawi, Senior Engineer at ACI, presented a session on the ACI Repair Code—ACI 562-19, Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures and Commentary. This is the first U.S. code produced specifically for the repair of reinforced concrete. A new guide document for the code with additional information and project examples that help users interpret the code requirements was also highlighted. One of the attendees was chosen randomly to win an ACI University All-Access Digital Subscription for one year. Senior student Mohammed Rezan Abdulazeez from the University of Salahaddin at Erbil was the winner. Abdulazeez said that it was a great opportunity for him to learn more about new concrete topics via ACI University, while pursuing his study in civil engineering online from home. In order to improve knowledge about concrete in Iraq, other webinars will be presented in different local languages such as Arabic, Kurdish, Turkish, Chaldean, and Yazidi in addition to English.
