ACI will host a virtual student competition on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM EDT during the ACI Virtual Convention. The ACI Concrete Solutions Competition is sponsored by ACI Committee – S801 Student Competitions which will meet on Sunday, October 25 at 10:30 AM EDT. The purpose of the event is for students to demonstrate and/or explain how their use of concrete could positively impact the world at large. This first iteration of this competition is broad in its scope – teams are encouraged to use creative means to present and explain their concrete approach or solution to a broad audience including why it should interest the public at large. Teams will compete for cash prizes ranging from $250 - $750 USD in two categories: Most innovative design/developmental use of concrete Overall highest score. The top 20 submissions will participate in team interviews with judges on October 25. The team must register for the competition by 11:59 PM EDT on October 7. Submissions will consist of a YouTube video, in English, no longer than seven minutes, meeting the requirements on the competition webpage. In addition to participating in the ACI Concrete Solutions Competition, all students are invited to register for the ACI Virtual Convention at no cost. Younger Member convention activities include: Student Networking Event – October 24, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM EDT Undergraduate Research Session – October 25, 7:30 PM – 8:00 PM EDT Student Lunch and Learn – October 26, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT What I Wish I Knew: A Guide to Mentorship – October 26, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM EDT Young Professional Activities Committee Meeting – October 26, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT Young Professional Networking Event – October 26, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT ACI Student Forum – October 27, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT ACI has over 16,000 student members and more than 240 student chapters around the world.
