The ACI Virtual Concrete Convention was attended by over 2,500 professionals and students from around the world.
Originally scheduled to take place in Atlanta, GA, USA, as a hybrid event, the convention transitioned to fully virtual to convene leaders and practitioners throughout the concrete industry from October 17-21, 2021. These individuals work to improve the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of concrete projects. The virtual convention provided a forum for networking, education, and an opportunity to provide input on the concrete industry’s codes, specifications, and guides.
“The ACI Virtual Concrete Convention brings our international community of engineers, architects, educators, and concrete professionals together,” stated Ronald G. Burg, PE, Executive Vice President, American Concrete Institute. “The collaboration that occurs here is vital to the advancement of the industry.”
52 technical and educational sessions, featuring over 350 speakers and 100+ hours of industry-leading concrete learning were available to attendees of the fall ACI Virtual Concrete Convention. Registration for on-demand access to the convention sessions will be open until November 5, 2021. Both convention attendees and post-convention registrants will have access to all sessions until January 31, 2022.
During the Opening Session and Keynote Presentation, ACI 2021-2022 President Cary S. Kopczynski discussed the Institute’s goal to further assume leadership roles in achieving concrete carbon neutrality and improving productivity in the concrete industry.
During the ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards, an international celebration of concrete design and construction, 15 awards were given out to winning projects for their innovative use of concrete. The awards program is now available for free on-demand viewing.
During the President’s Reception and Awards Presentation, ACI President Cary S. Kopczynski recognized 6 awardees for their exceptional service to the Institute and requested attendees join the one-thousand-donor challenge, as part of the ACI Foundation’s annual appeal.
