The American Concrete Institute hosted an education program, Highlights on ACI new Initiatives; 318PLUS, Sustainability, and Innovation, on June 26, 2022, at The Big 5 Construct in Egypt.
Ahmad Mhanna, ACI Middle East Regional Director, gave attendees an introduction to the Institute and its mission to develop and disseminate concrete knowledge, along with an overview of the ACI 318PLUS platform and its benefits for structural engineers & educators. Mhanna also provided an overview of ACI’s efforts and initiatives concerning the sustainable use of concrete and how the Institute embraces constructability improvement and innovation. Attendees were also able to have an in-depth look into topics including sustainability, innovation, ACI 318 PLUS, and ACI 318-19: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete.
Participation in The Big 5 is one many ways ACI is establishing stronger relationships with the construction industry in the Middle East. ACI maintains its relationship with the international concrete community through its participation in international events, its active and influential International Chapters, its collaboration with International Partners, and through its Ambassador Speaker Program.
