The ACI Foundation’s Concrete Innovation Council (CIC) gathered in Santa Fe, NM, USA, to discuss technology and innovation at the 2024 Technology Forum. The event took place May 14-16, 2024, at the Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza. The ACI Foundation Technology Forum is an innovation focused educational and networking event for concrete professionals. This event provided attendees the opportunity to connect with representatives from material suppliers, architecture and engineering firms, contractors, academics, top-level executives, and regulatory agencies. The 2024 Technology Forum included presentations and technology showcases that highlighted new technologies, advances in research, and new test standards. Topics ranged from Creare’s Instant Air Meter, a handheld tool that provides instant concrete air content readings, to design innovations for SoFi Stadium. The event included a panel discussion on the current landscape of low-carbon concrete materials. The discussion moderated by Dean Frank, NEU Executive Director, included five technology owners who had an opportunity to present their alternative low-carbon materials and programs. The Q&A segment of the discussion allowed for the panelists and attendees to discuss mineralized carbon dioxide (CO2 ) production of cementitious materials, a cement-free concrete product, use of silicate-based raw materials for cementitious materials, a zero-carbon biocement product, and the generation of real-time life-cycle assessment and environmental product declarations. “This event did not disappoint in terms of covered topics and the depth of coverage of such topics, as well as the choice of location and organization,” said Jomaa Ben Hassine, Founder, Civil Renewables, Inc. “We left the 2024 Forum inspired and full of ideas that we can integrate in our work.” To learn more about the annual Technology Forum or to receive the latest information for the 2025 Technology Forum scheduled for August 12-14, 2025, in Denver, CO, USA, visit www.acifoundation.org/technology/forums.
