Abstract:
Problems with the use of Chapter 4 requirements of "Building Code Requirements for Reinforced Concrete (AC1 318-71)" for qualifying concrete proportions are discussed by a concrete producer based on his experience with the Code. Recommendations are given for possible solutions along with a commentary on the reasons for the changes. The recommendations would promote the increased use of previous field test data for qualifying concrete mix proportions, thereby promoting greater supplier and contractor quality control participation.
