Abstract:
Research was conducted to improve the appearance of the formed surfaces of precast elements produced using self-consolidating concrete. Surfaces were analyzed as functions of the concrete composition and types of form release agent. Analyses used an image processing method specifically developed for this application. The results indicate that a reduction in the concrete shear-stress ratio contributed to a lower percentage of bugholes, whereas no significant difference in the concrete surface appearance was observed as a function of a form release agent type.
