Abstract:
Work done with the Bureau of Reclamation to develop RCC (roller compacted concrete) material and construction methods for use as mass concrete suit-able for concrete gravity dams is outlined. Concrete strength parameters were identified, and a concrete material was developed to meet the parameters. Departures from conventional concrete gravity dam designs were made to optimize the advantages of rapid construction with RCC in dam, foundation, and waterway designs.
