Abstract:
This paper briefly reviews some aspects involved in the planning and analysis of frames and frame-shearwall systems, with particular reference to the lateral-load-resisting function. The basic structural systems commonly used in the high-rise building are examined and a discussion of frame-shearwall behavior as well as some simplifying assumptions used in their analysis is presented. Areas requiring further study are indicated.
