Abstract:
"Seven years ago, a friend of mine came to me on our tunnel job in the Tehachapi Mountains and in a very low voiced, secretive, manner told me of a substance that would solve all my bad ground problems. He said this was a substance that was easy to mix, simple to apply, and would setup immediately and be as strong as concrete. After seven years of shotcrete experience, if I were to repeat my version of this, I would say that it was difficult to mix properly; the devil to apply; and if you do everything right it will set-up quickly and be as strong as concrete. . .Let us talk about our Tehachapi Tunnels for a few moments, about some of the things that we learned and about some of the mistakes that we made.
