Abstract:
A rational analysis of the strength of rectangular concrete beams tranversally reinforced with stirrups, subjected to torsion in combination with shear and bending is proposed. Pure torsion and cases of combined bending and torsion are considered special cases of the general analysis. Application of the analysis to design is discussed and a numberical design example is fully worked out.
