Abstract:
The advantages of prestressed concrete reactor vessels especially in comparison with steel pressure vessels are discussed. The natural economic trend toward large unit sizes of power reactors favors concrete pressure vessel due to possible vessel dismensions in combination with internal pressures, freedom of shape, and increased safety.
