Abstract:
The equivalent frame method (EFM) has been widely accepted as a satisfactory design procedure for two-way reinforced concrete slab systems. The same method and principles can also apply to the analysis of reinforced concrete buildings during construction, while formwork and shoring systems are still in place. The EFM-based analytical procedure is demonstrated by its application to the 1981 construction failure of the Harbour Cay Condominium.
