Abstract:
Case histories are presented to illustrate quality assurance and forensic applications of nondestructive testing and evaluation for the construction industry. The sonic, seismic, and vibration methods described are based on measurement of wave-propagation behavior. These measurements provide data on dynamic properties that are directly and indirectly related to physical conditions of the system being tested. They typically provide engineers with critical data that cannot be obtained economically from traditional destructive test methods.
