Abstract:
Alkali-activated slag cement concrete (AASCC) has recently attracted interest due to its low environmental impact. This binder has exhibited excellent mechanical strength and durability, but some mixtures have demonstrated short setting times or excessive shrinkage. This article discusses AASCC hydration and product formation in comparison to portland cement, mechanical properties and durability, and potential for practical application in current construction practices.
