Abstract:
Despite significant advancements in the Construction 3D Printing technology, there are multiple challenges which still need to be resolved before this technology can be adopted in a massive scale for infrastructure development. In this presentation, two ongoing projects at the Louisiana State University, investigating two self-reinforced printing materials will be discussed: Steel fiber reinforced concrete and Ultra-high Performance Engineered Cementitious Composite (UHP-ECC). The potential advantages and challenges with using these materials for construction of resilient 3D printed infrastructure will be discussed. In addition, experimental results and findings regarding the fresh and hardened properties of these printing materials and the structural performance of 3D printed specimens will be presented and discussed.
