Abstract:
Concrete sand grading is statistically analyzed. The width of each sieve opening of the different sieves is considered as the cell boundaries and the percentages by weight of sand retained on successive sieves, as the frequencies. The sand frequencies are normal log distributed. The fineness modulus is a logarithmic function of the geometric mean of the particle size. The dispersion index is a logarithmic function of the geometric dispersion. An analysis of variance of the fineness modulus and the dispersion index has been made to establish a sampling experiment.
