Abstract:
The destruction wrought by atomic bombing of the Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August, 1945, is outlined, with an analysis of typical damage within areas with respect to zero point. The survival of certain modern buildings of reinforced concrete and composite construction is noted with interest. The paper discusses principles and procedures design necessary to resist attacks by these special new weapons.
