Abstract:
The quality of dry-mix shotcrete is highly dependent upon the skill of the nozzleman. It has very little to do with the time the individual has been a nozzleman, but a great deal to do with how he has been trianed and how conscientious he is. Most of the information and specifications on shotcrete address at length the wrong factors such as equipment, sand gradation, and compressive strengths. Performance specifications would be superior, except that there are no adequate criteria for writing such specifications, nor for verifying compliance.
