Detailed Webinar Instructions

Description

This virtual seminar is jointly sponsored by NEx: An ACI Center of Excellence for Nonmetallic Building Materials and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

This full-day (6 hour) seminar will provide an in-depth exploration of innovative applications of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites in structural rehabilitation and strengthening. Attendees will gain insights into cutting-edge techniques for repairing and reinforcing various structures, from marine piles in harsh environments to seismic retrofitting of buildings and ensuring the safety of bridge structures. The webinar will also introduce the new ACI CODE 440.13-24, which establishes design methodologies for FRP-based repairs in structural concrete. This session is designed for engineers, architects, and construction professionals looking to enhance their knowledge of FRP composites and their application in modern structural engineering.

Speakers include:

• 10:05 am - 10:45 am Introduction to ACI CODE 440.13-24 Strengthening Structural Concrete with Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Systems by Kent A. Harries, University of Pittsburg

• 10:45 am - 12:10 pm Seismic Retrofit of Concrete Structures Using Externally Bonded FRP by Tarek Alkhrdaji, Structural Technologies

• 12:10 pm - 12:45 pm Retrofit and Rehabilitation Strategies with Advanced Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites by Shreya Vemuganti, University of Oklahoma

12:45 pm - 1:30 pm Break

• 1:30 pm - 2:10 pm Game-changing Marine Pile Retrofit System with Carbon Fiber Jacket and No Need for Diving by Hamid Saadatmanesh, University of Arizona

• 2:10 pm - 2:55 pm Unique Challenges in Load Rating and Retrofitting a 1920s Chicago Building for Repurposing as a Data Center by Kevin Walsh, Frost Engineering

• 2:55 pm - 3:50 pm Polyurethane Flexible Joint as An Adhesive Bonding: The Safety Tape Solutions by Prof. Dr. Arkadiusz Kwiecień, Cracow University of Technology

• 3:50 pm - 5:00 pm Seismic Strengthening of Concrete Floor Diaphragms Using FRP Based on Full-scale Testing by Enrique del Rey Castillo, University of Auckland, New Zealand
