Description

This report addresses the range of current technology and application experience for refractory plastics and ramming mixes. A brief discussion of the past and present history of plastics and ramming mixes is presented to establish the usefulness and adaptability of these refractory plastic and ramming mix linings are discussed with criteria for proper selection. The general characteristics and standardized test procedures are designed to provide instruction and direction in the proper design and installation of the refractory lining. Installation, construction, proper drying procedures, and repair methods are presented to provide a reference point when deciding the details of engineering design of a furnace or the quick repair of existing equipment. Chapter 8 and 9 provide ample discussions on applications and the newest developments in the use and performance of plastics and ramming mixes in various types of industries with improved methods for installing these refractory compositions.
